My 2023 Intentions

Bodybuilding in my 60th Year

December 30, 2022

I laughed when I saw that August 31, 2022 was the date of the previous post. What can I say? I'm not really into staging content. It just has to happen. As you can see from the pic in the header, I am training for next year's bikini/bodybuilding season. I have registered for the World Vegan Bodybuilding Championship; and intend to compete for the second year in the Mr. and Miss Puerto Vallarta (Mexico) bodybuilding competion.

Some might ask, "Why?" and I laugh while replying, "Because I want to." I laugh because I can now INNERSTAND my elders (now Ancestors). When my mother entered her 60th year, she was traveling throughout the U.S. with her much younger boyfriend. Back then, I remember thinking, and yes, saying, "I don't know who you are!" Of course, I didn't know who she was. . .because she was being Her. . .the Woman BEFORE she became My Mother.

Nearly 30 years later, I am thankful that Mommy did what was in her heart to do: Be Herself; Enjoy Herself and yes, love and be loved by her "much younger" boyfriend. They were together 15 years until one day; Mommy no longer wanted to be in the relationship. And just like that, she was single again. If only you, the reader; could know how far I have evolved. Being able to genuinely have this perspective on Mommy and her life choices is evidence (for me) that the inner work I have done over the past 15 years has been effective!

So What's next for Me? Mmmm, Life presents and I respond accordingly. Meanwhile, today I took my first Bachata dance class. My friend Destiny (shares name with my middle daughter/child) suggested that I give it a try. As she said, "As Black Women, we are very rigid and out-of-touch with our sensual side(s)." To say that I loved my FIRST class and intend to ADD Bachata to my dancing repetoire is an UNDERSTATEMENT!

I have always been able to do movements "alone". However, I have longed to "follow" a Man's LEAD. To trust that He will CLUE Me to the NEXT steps WE are taking TOGETHER. I'm practicing with the Bachata Dance. My teacher, Arturo speaks very little English. Likewise, mi habla espanol, porquito. He showed me how to hold my hands; allowing him to lead and give me the clues to our next movements. I found that closing my eyes and trusting was helpful to my following his lead.

Take a look and tell me what you think. . .
